REFLECT Infra-Red Reflective Paint
Metal roof manufacturers have been providing infra-red reflective metal roof systems to reduce heat absorption and save energy for twenty years. Federal, state, and local governments encourage building owners to provide infra-red reflective energy-saving technology on their buildings.
Precision’s REFLECT 3000 and REFLECT 5000 provides architects, specifiers, and contractors a solution for field applied infra-red reflective coatings that can be used to improve the energy efficiency of existing metal roof systems, without the cost of replacing existing roof systems. Additional benefits of field applied infra-red reflective technology include applications on handrails, playground equipment, metal steps, and other architectural features that can become hot to the touch when exposed to sunlight.
Both REFLECT 3000 and REFLECT 5000 are sustainable coatings that aid in the reduction of substrate heat build-up which results in:
- Reduced cooling energy costs
- Improved safety with reduced temperatures on substrates
- Reduced expansion and contraction of substrate materials
- Extended color life-cycle of infra-red reflective pigments
REFLECT Infra-Red Reflective Finishes
Dark and deep colors that usually absorb infra-red spectrum radiation in the form of heat, actually reflect the heat due to the unique IR Reflective Pigments. REFLECT coatings are field-applied coatings used to paint existing metal roofs, curtain walls, sidewalls, playground equipment, and handrails to reduce the surface temperature of the substrate. Test results demonstrate surface temperatures of metal substrates can be reduced up to 20% using the REFLECT pigment technology.
How does REFLECT work?
In the visible spectrum, the specialized REFLECT infra-red pigments appear to the human eye to be black, deep blue, dark green, deep red, or dark brown, but in the infra-red spectrum, these same colors reflect heat more like a light gray, light blue, pastel green, pink or tan.
REFLECT is available in two extended life-cycle field-applied coating systems. REFLECT 3000 uses an automotive-grade acrylic aliphatic polyurethane resin system while Precision’s REFLECT 5000 uses an advanced polysiloxane resin system.
REFLECT 3000
REFLECT 3000 is an infra-red reflective acrylic aliphatic polyurethane coating system that can be used on metal roofs, siding, curtain walls, handrails, benches, and playground equipment to reduce the surface temperature of metal substrates. By combining an outstanding automotive resin system with IR Reflective Pigments, REFLECT 3000 offers the heat reflective benefits of these special pigments with an advanced resin system providing outstanding color and gloss retention. Reflect 3000 is less than 50 grams per liter VOC.
REFLECT 3000 keeps metal surfaces cooler. Deep blues, reds, greens, browns, and even blacks are amazingly cool to the touch.
REFLECT 5000
REFLECT 5000 is an infra-red reflective polysiloxane coating system used on metal roofs, siding, curtain walls, handrails, benches, and playground equipment to reduce the temperature of the exterior metal surfaces. By utilizing an advanced polysiloxane resin in combination with IR Reflective Pigments, REFLECT 5000 offers the heat reflective benefits of these special pigments with a resin system that provides outstanding adhesion, corrosion protection and graffiti resistance along with excellent color and gloss retention. Reflect 5000 is less than 100 grams per liter VOC.
