SlipShield

SlipShield

Color: Clear
Finish

SlipShield is a two-part slip-resistant floor coating that can be applied to interior and exterior surfaces to attain acceptable slip resistance in both dry and wet environments. It provides a weatherable UV resistant surface that has minimal aesthetic impact on the surface it protects. SlipShield’s low odor and low VOC formula makes it easy to work with, and a safer choice for the environment.

Surface Types

  • Polished Stone Flooring
  • Steel
  • Galvanized Steel
  • Tile

Additional Information

Application

SlipShield 1000 is an advanced polymer installed by professional flooring applicators and is commonly applied by floor coating application pad, roller or brush. Please see Technical Data Sheet for details.

The application plays an important role in optimizing the Coefficient of Friction with SlipShield 1000.  Flooring installation professionals are best equipped to install SlipShield 1000.  It is recommended that a mock-up or test area should be installed to determine the suitability of SlipShield 1000 for the flooring project.  An end of project audit should also be performed to confirm that the results expected from the mock-up are achieved.

Maintenance

Precision Coating's SlipShield 1000 can be cleaned and maintained with water and mild non-abrasive detergent cleaning. To optimize and maintain its slip-resistant properties SlipShield® should NOT be waxed, abraded, polished or burnished.

Determining the Suitability of SlipShield® for Floors

The purpose of this test is to ensure and approve the suitability of SlipShield® for its intended use including measuring the Coefficient of Friction (COF) of the surface before and after applying SlipShield® to the mock-up to verify and approve the adequacy of the product for the specific situation.

Prior to applying the mock-up, test the Coefficient of Friction (COF) of the existing floor

SlipShield® sample shall be applied over the cleaned and prepared substrate.

  • An audit of the cured mock-up shall be completed to determine the suitability of SlipShield® for the project
  • Static Coefficient of Friction Testing for Dry Areas (ANSI/NFSI B101.1-2009)
  • Dynamic Coefficient of Friction Testing for Wet Areas (ANSI/NFSI B101.3-2012)

Auditing the Finished Floor for Coefficient of Friction

SlipShield 1000 applied as a safety flooring system should be audited to ensure it meets the slip-resistant requirements of the area and conditions for which it is being applied.

  • Dry areas should be tested to ANSI/NFSI B101.1-2009 test method for measuring wet static coefficient of friction.
  • Wet areas, or areas where wet conditions occur should be tested to the ANSI/NFSI B101.3 -2012 test method for measuring wet dynamic coefficient of friction.
