Slip Resistant Floor Coatings
SlipShield® anti slip coatings create a slip resistant flooring to help reduce slips, falls and resulting injuries to help meet the goal of facility and safety managers for businesses, institutions, and municipalities of creating safer high traffic areas. Injuries from slips and falls cost billions of dollars each year in terms of medical management, rehabilitation and lost time.
SlipShield® is a slip-resistant, weatherable, long lasting coating that can be used to increase the Coefficient of Friction (COF) on some substrates such as polished stone and ceramic tile without markedly changing the appearance of the substrate. As an anti slip coating, SlipShield® is applied to interior and exterior ceramic tile, polished stone, polished concrete and coated flooring to improve slip resistance in both dry and wet environments. SlipShield® is available in both clear and solid colors in gloss and a low semi-gloss finish. SlipShield® clear provides a weatherable, ultra-violet resistant surface that allows the structure and beauty of tile, polished stone and polished concrete to show through while slip resistance can be improved for safety.
If extra slip resistance is needed due to wet areas, steep ramps or stairs, a specialized aggregate can be added to SlipShield® to further increase slip resistance on difficult exterior and interior surfaces. The addition of our unique aggregate in SlipShield® improves slip resistance with minimal aesthetic impact on tile, polished stone, polished concrete, and coated flooring. The aggregate is of a size and shape that it has minimal impact on cleaning operations.
The application plays an important role in optimizing the Coefficient of Friction (COF) of SlipShield® . Flooring installation professionals are best equipped to install SlipShield®. Prior to installing SlipShield® a mock-up done on the substrate to determine the suitability of SlipShield® for the area should be completed. An audit of the Coefficient of Friction (COF) should be done at the completion of the finished flooring application of SlipShield®.
How SlipShield® Works
SlipShield® is an extended lifecycle weatherable coating system that creates a consistent polymeric structure throughout the film. This polymeric structure provides slip resistance as long as the film remains on the surface of the substrate, whether new or worn.
